The trailer was revealed on Monday morning and got an overwhelming response as people found the idea of actress Anushka playing a ghost very unique and enthralling.
Anushka is happened to produce the movie with her brother Karnesh Sharma under their home banner Clean Slate Films. The movie tells the story in a very unique style.
The producers said that with such a response they are grateful to the audience and feels very charged up with the rest of the promotions, owing to the amazing start.
The trailer starts with Suraj Sharma, hope you remember actor of Life of Pi, who’s depicting a very different persona as a NRI Punjabi boy who is made to marry a tree before he marries his fiancé because he is maanglik. The humour makes entry when the ghost who lived on the tree starts stalking him.
Anushka as a friendly and entertaining ghost looks endearing, and adds to the look.
In a nice tone, the actress said that they thought playing human was very mainstream. She said that playing human was so boring so came with the idea of a ghost and it was a real fun.
Basically the trailer says that the ghost has a back story of unrequited love from a past era. And her love interest was a man who sings really well who is played by multi-talented Diljit Dosanjh, who is also happy to be a part of this unique story.
Diljit said that the film’s story was so different. He’s a singer in real life, but not the type of singer that he plays in the movie. He said that it was wonderful to be in this film. He also quoted that Punjab looks very beautiful in Phillauri, while describing the picturesque backdrops of Punjab that the trailer brings to.
The trailer doesn’t tell much about what incident made Anushka’s character to become a ghost. Anshai Lal, the film’s director said that’s the whole idea, which is making his debut feature film.
The idea was to leave it unique. There’s a lot of newness in the movie. People have appreciated the fresh pairing of Diljit-Anushka in the film; the visual effects are appreciated a lot in the trailer.
The script is written by Anvita Dutt and the movie Phillauri is slated to release on March 24, under the banner of Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films.
